NHCRWA Water Conservation Education Program
AN EXCITING NEW
WAY
TO LEARN ABOUT WATER...
An exciting Mobile Teaching Lab is
available for use by teachers on campus. The
trailer features several interactive
exhibits that focus on where our water comes
from, how we use it, how it must be
protected from pollution, and how we can use
it more efficiently in our daily lives.
A group of experienced science educators
helped create some classroom activities for
7th grade
science
student. Special Educator Workshops to
demonstrate how the curriculum and the
Mobile Teaching Lab may be used will be held
for participating educators.
Also for 7th graders, JOURNEY TO GUNK
JUNCTION is an exciting adventure story
about finding the source of some pollution
in the resort town of Gaea. There is a
comprehensive Reader's Study and Enjoyment
Guide that accompanies the book, and it
contains questions about the story (reading
comprehension), vocabulary words, bonus
science questions (and answers), 25 water
conservation tips, water related
definitions, and a list of important water
websites. This is featured in a component of
the 7th Grade Science Workshops, and
addresses the critical issue of Sourcewater
Protection.
Support materials are available and may
be ordered through this site. While
the Mobile Lab is intended for school use,
in certain circumstances, it may also be
available for neighborhood events and other
community gatherings. The water
conservation theme is an important message
for all area residents, and this exhibit has
been designed to encourage increased
awareness and a commitment to conservation
by all visitors.
