NHCRWA Water Conservation Education Program
Journey to Pansophigus...

AN EXCITING NEW
WAY
TO LEARN ABOUT WATER...
An
innovative new Mobile Teaching Lab is available
for use by teachers on campus. The trailer features several
interactive exhibits that focus on where our water comes from, how
we use it, how it must be protected from pollution, and how we can
use it more efficiently in our daily lives. A group of experienced science
educators helped create some classroom activities for students in grades 5-7.
These
plans and a wealth of other support experiments are outlined in a
comprehensive Teacher's Guide that accompanies the Teaching Lab. Special Educator Workshops
to demonstrate how the curriculum and the Mobile Teaching Lab may be
used will be held for participating educators.
In addition to visiting these hands-on exhibits,
students will receive a copy of an exciting new adventure story --
Journey to Pansophigus
-- that illustrates
the concepts in the Lab in a way that is both informative and
entertaining.
There is a comprehensive Reader's Study and Enjoyment Guide
that accompanies the book, and it contains questions about the story
(reading comprehension), vocabulary words, bonus science questions
(and answers), 25 water conservation tips, water related
definitions, and a list of important water websites.
Support materials are available and may be
ordered through this site. While the Mobile Lab is intended for
school use, it may also be available for neighborhood events and
other community gatherings. The water conservation theme is an
important message for all area residents, and this exhibit has been
designed to encourage increased awareness and a commitment to
conservation by all visitors.
